Hospice Volunteers are an essential part of the Hospice Team working
to supplement the delivery of services for those with a terminal illness
and their loved ones. At the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice
you will become part of a team, a family and a community that
recognizes your gifts and talents. Qualified adults (at least 18 years old)
with a commitment to helping others can apply for a Hospice Volunteer
opportunity. Volunteer Coordinators skillfully conduct the preliminary
interviews, screening and orientation, plus a full range of ongoing
training opportunities to ensure the satisfaction and success of all
participants. Volunteers serve in many capacities, a few of the
specialized roles are identified below. We are always adding to the list.
Patient Care - recognizing that personal care is an important part
of the hospice philosophy of care. These volunteers provide respite
for the caregivers, companionship for the patient in the home, other
community settings and at the Hospice Center.

duties and administrative support.
Special Events – planning, organizing and staffing various
community events and fund raisers.
